Sematic was founded by two brothers, Steve and Michael Katrivanos, after having outgrown playing their music in the basement. They went from their spirited yet underground status in 2004 to an exhilarating first cross country tour in 2008. A grindstone attitude and love of high energy music combined with stone cold serious talent has made them utterly and inevitably unstoppable.

The band has secured a large and enthusiastic grassroots following, headlined shows regularly at The State Theatre in Falls Church VA and released original recordings that have been sparking the thirst of their fans and attracting new ones on a daily basis. Aside from making connections with their fans at shows they are adamantly building concrete relationships through blogging, email updates and serious social networking (13,000 fans and counting on myspace).

The Law of Threes, a full length record almost 2 years in the making, boasted crunchy guitars, big choruses and dynamic melodies. After the supporting tour, the group took on a new focus creating three songs inspired by the peace that the music creating process instills within the band. “Stars Align” was selected as the single and has received radio airplay in three major markets.

Known for their live show antics as well as their party mentality, their music has proven to be infectious, and no one is safe from their contagious and energetic grooves. Sematic has opened for national acts such as FLAW, Godhead, HURT, The Kin, VAST, and Eden Row and has headlined shows regularly at The State Theatre in Falls Church VA as well as accumulated countless other accomplishments in the DC-metropolitan area including music award nominations, battle of the bands finalist status and contest winnings. Most recently the group was recognized by the Washington Area Music Association as a winner of the “P.A.S.S. Contest (Professional Artist Support System) for their track “The Cold” off their full length CD “The Law of Threes” winning them a list of prizes and landing their group a recording deal for the new single “Stars Align” released May 7th 2010.
